Origin Time: 26 Feb 2010 8:34 pm HST Persons living in the Pacific Rim, are urged to take precautions, from possible tsunami. A rise in the ocean was recorded during this event, there is a good chance of tsunami. The capital city of Santiago Chile, reports collapsed buildings, and a few deaths, with more probable.
updates : At least 214 people were killed in Chile, according to interior minister Edmundo Perez Yoma, and officials said about 1.5 million homes suffered at least some damage. Small Pacific tsunami hits Hawaii In Hawaii, the tsunami began affecting Hilo Bay on the Big Island just before noon local time. The tsunami raced across the Pacific Ocean after the quake hit Chile hours earlier, giving Hawaii officials ample time to get people out of the potential disaster area. Authorities in Hawaii alerted residents to the potential danger. As the waves expected arrival drew near, roads into Waikiki were closed off. A tsunami warning -- the highest alert level -- was in effect for Hawaii, Guam, American Samoa, Samoa and dozens of other Pacific islands. An advisory -- the lowest level -- covered coastal areas of California, Oregon, Washington state, parts of Alaska, and British Columbia. Code Amber News Service (CANS) issued this Missing Endangered person Alert after the girl disappeared from her bedroom some time after 3 AM Tuesday morning in Satsuma. Satsuma is approximately 75 miles east of Gainsville. Haleigh Cummings a white female, 3 feet tall, weighs 39 pounds and has blond hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a pink shirt and underwear. There are no suspects in this case at this time. However, due to the circumstances of the child's disappearance an abduction is strongly suspected. There is no suspect vehicle at this time. Anyone with information is asked to call the Putnam County Sheriff's office at (386) 329-0808 or dial 911.
