Country singer Garth Brooks suing mad at Oklahoma hospital
Little Rock, Arkansas (CaymanMama.com) — Popular country music star Garth Brooks is downright angry — so angry, in fact, that he’s going to sue. The “Unanswered Prayers” singer is alleging that his efforts to memorialize his mother’s name at an Oklahoma hospital has gone unfulfilled, and he’s suing the medicall center for $500,000 for breach of contract. In 2005, Brooks, 47, donated Integris Canadian Valley Regional hospital in Yukon, Okla., the $500,000 dollars to finance a building that would carry on his mother’s name, Colleen Brooks, who lost her battle to cancer in 1999. However, according to a court filing, Brooks says hospital failed to include the building in a $27 million expansion project, thus leaving CVR in breach of contract. “Garth’s heart is broken over this,” a source close to Brooks said. A hospital spokesman insists there was a misunderstanding in the matter and that they look forward to a “swift and amicable end.” Brooks disagrees; his rep said: “This deals with his mother, the home town and the people he grew up with and is deeply personal.” Exciting News The Moody BluesAre Coming To Florida, Atlanta, Then UK!Moody Blues Debuts “Story Tellers” VIP Experience Packages for Select US, UK Concert DatesImagine being able to ask the Moody Blues band members a question you’ve always wondered about or hearing them describe their most crazy concert experiences … At select upcoming concerts, MOODY BLUES fans will hear more than just “Your Wildest Dreams,” they’ll hear some of the legendary band members’ wildest stories as they share personal accounts from decades of international performances.

Sound Records: Seattle's Innovative Indie Label Obtains a Vast Array of Talented Established and Emerging Artists SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Seattle—best known musically as the birthplace of such iconic groups as Nirvana and Pearl Jam—remains a creative wellspring. In fact, the latest chapter in the city’s musical legacy is currently being written by Sound Records. Launched 18 months ago, Sound Records (www.soundrecordsmusic.com) is the vision of partners/principals—and music fans—Kenny Stumbo and Noah Hartkopf, who serve as president and VP, respectively. The independent startup already sports a roster of established and emerging artists from the rap to pop/rock worlds, including Keith Murray and Canibus (AKA The Undergods), Bronze Nazareth, Project Lionheart and Bekker. Sound Records is focused on delivering music from all genres. The mission: to build a mutually beneficial haven for talented and hardworking artists whose music resonates with many. Hartkopf declares, “Seattle is ready to explode again.” Murray, Canibus and Project Lionheart will appear on Sound Records’ Sept. 29 inaugural digital and physical release, The Academy. Also featuring fellow Sound artists Bronze Nazareth and 60 Second Assassins, the stellar compilation boasts guest appearances by Grammy award winner RZA of the legendary rap group Wu-Tang Clan, Planet Asia, DJ Immortal and Killah Priest. Distribution for the project is through 101 Distribution. The Sound foundation took shape two years ago. Hartkopf—business development manager for Stumbo’s successful property management collection agency IQ Data—ran into members of the Wu-Tang Clan at his hotel lobby. After talking music with them, Hartkopf suggested the group get in touch when they visited Seattle the following week. A random call came later from Wu-Tang affiliate to possibly invest in a recording project which prompted Stumbo and Hartkopf to follow through on something discussed in the past: launching their own record label. Deriving its moniker from Seattle’s nearby Puget Sound and tying in as well with the city’s storied musical legacy, Sound Records was born. As for the downturn in the economy as well as the record industry itself, Stumbo notes, “We viewed the timing as an opportunity instead of a bad sign. New artists are looking for the right independent labels to help them distribute their albums and established artists are searching for different ways to deliver music to their fans as the major labels tighten their purse strings and trim their rosters.”

Mo Wiley: Gearing up for the Fall Release of Her First Kut Debut ‘Major League Ballin’
The Bay Area Based Female Gangsta Rapper Gets into the Apparel Biz and Launches Two Children’s Charity Foundations LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Contrary to the old adage that we’ve all heard a million times, it’s IMpatience that’s the virtue—or at least it is with Bay Area female gangsta rapper Mo Wiley, who’s keeping busy with a ton of exciting entrepreneurial activities as she awaits the upcoming release of “You Can’t Touch It,” the club groove driven first single from her highly anticipated debut Major League Ballin’, due to drop this fall on Kent Entertainment’s First Kut Records. In August, the multi-talented performer (www.myspace.com/missmowiley) was down in L.A. shooting a video for the track with director Ian Fletcher, whose credits include the clip for DJ Quik’s “Tonight’s The Night.” She is also planning a tour centered on performances for U.S Troops for later this year. Though she cleaned up her act and went straight a while back now, Wiley brings a gritty vibe and real street cred to Major League Ballin’ and is already a popular club draw in Northern California with a huge fan base in Oakland (where she made Club 17 her home base). She’s matching her lofty ambitions with action, starting her career with big time players in the rap biz. Not only is she working with the “Godfather of Rap” (and Kent owner) Morey Alexander (who launched the careers of rap legends like N.W.A, Easy-E, Ice Cube and Dr. Dre), but her album was produced by one of First Kut’s most popular artists, Slick (from Slick and the Shock Mob). In 2008, the artist incorporated with several partners the Mo Wiley Children’s Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to feeding, sheltering and educating our youth. Inspired by the negative media attention received by Oakland in the wake of the March, 2009 shooting of four OPD police officers by a single assailant, Wiley recently launched a second community based organization called For The Streets, by The Streets Youth Foundation; its mission is to serve the needs of at-risk inner city kids. “Even though the media’s coverage of the tragedy made many people out there think we’re all at war with each other, there are many good things going on in Oakland,” says Wiley. |
