The 2009 Harris Interactive College Football Poll is comprised of former players, coaches, administrators and current and former members of the media who have committed to submit rankings for the top 25 college football teams each week. These panelists were randomly selected from among more than 300 nominations submitted by the 11 Division I-A Conference offices and the independent schools. The panel has been designed to be a statistically valid representation of all 11 Division I-A Conferences and independent institutions. Today, 114 poll participants submitted their top 25 college football team rankings. Harris Interactive applies a standard statistical practice that allows it to identify potential instability, error or bias associated with unusual ranking patterns. Those rankings that are identified through the analysis are verified to ensure that each panelist’s intent is accurately reflected.

This week’s rankings and other information about the poll can be found at www.harrisinteractive.com/bcspoll and www.bcsfootball.org.

Keanu Reeves Wins Celebrity Category of 2009 Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race

"King of the Beach" Al Unser Jr. is Overall and Professional Winner

LONG BEACH, Calif., April 18 /PRNewswire/ -- It was auto racing at its most thrilling as actor Keanu Reeves prevailed over a highly competitive group of stars of film, television and sports to win the Celebrity Category of the 2009 Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race. "The King of the Beach," six-time Toyota Grand Prix winner Al Unser, Jr., finished first among all drivers and won in the Professional category, followed closely by NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion Johnny Benson.

Despite enjoying the lead for most of the race, world champion pro skateboarder Danny Way's hopes of gliding into Victory Circle were dashed when he and Fonzworth Bentley, host of MTV's "From G's to Gents," mixed it up in the ninth lap, giving Reeves the opening he needed to cross the finish line in his race-ready Scion tC only seconds before E! Entertainment Television's Executive News Editor Ken Baker and comedian Carlos Mencia.

Actress/singer Raven Symone was the first of the drivers to discover - the hard way - how difficult the 1.97-mile street circuit through the downtown streets of Long Beach can be to navigate, but the plucky Disney star remained as upbeat after the race as the jovial Mencia, who surprised everyone with his third-place finish among the Celebrities.

It was Reeves, however, who claimed to be "in shock" at his triumph. "It is such a great feeling," said the new celebrity champ after the race. "Bentley and I had been going at it for most of the race, but when I got to the last lap and came around the fountain turn I almost couldn't believe it. I figured, 'I'm just gonna go get it.'"

"This field had the crowd cheering through the entire race," said Les Unger, Toyota Motor Sales USA national motorsports manager. "Each of the celebrities and the pros were hungry to take home the trophy this year, and they brought their best to the show. Throughout training and practice, they were intensely focused but they also enjoyed the experience, which is exactly what the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race is all about."

In the Professional Category, Unser overcame the pros' :30-second handicap by the eighth lap and held off the scrappy Benson and Southern California Toyota Dealer representative Tom Rudnai, president of Longo Toyota in El Monte, Calif., who came in third overall. The 2008 Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race winner, ESPN/ABC pit reporter Jamie Little, came in fifth among the Pros.

Mencia echoed the feelings of the rest of the drivers, concluding by complimenting Unser, saying, "It was humbling to be in this thing with a guy [like Unser] who has dominated this track for so many years, and still he made us feel great about being here, smiling and giving us tips. He was always smiling...even when he passed us on the track he was smiling!"

Toyota will donate $5,000 to "Racing for Kids" in the name of each celebrity racer, and another $5,000 to the winning racer's charity of choice. Racing for Kids is a national non-profit program benefiting children's hospitals in Long Beach and Orange County, Calif. Toyota has donated $1.7 million on behalf of the race and it participants and various children hospitals since 1991.

Additionally, a $15,000 donation was made in conjunction with the annual "PEOPLE Pole Award." Sponsored by PEOPLE magazine, the award was given to Danny Way, this year's pole-position winner of the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race qualifying session. Way selected the Action Sports Environmental Coalition (ASEC) as his charity, to support ASEC's mission of progressive eco-education and empowering people to adopt a sustainable lifestyle. Way is hoping the funds generated by the "PEOPLE Pole Award" will enable ASEC to build a "green" skate park for kids in Hawaii.

The Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race will be broadcast on Speed Channel next month. (See local listings for time and channel.)

Logano Scores Second Career Win At Nashville

Wins Two Nationwide Races at 18 Years of Age

LEBANON, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)

--Nashville Superspeedway is fast becoming Joey Logano’s playground in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. Logano piloted the No. 20 GameStop Toyota to Victory Lane in Saturday’s 300-mile race during the series’ first “standalone” weekend. In two career starts at Nashville, he has one win and one pole, which he captured during his first ever visit to the concrete oval.

Competing in one of the highest levels of motorsports in the world, Logano is proving that success does not necessarily come with age. This is his second career win, adding to the historic win last June in Kentucky, which made him the youngest winner in series history. His latest triumph makes him the first driver to win two Nationwide Series races before the age of 19.

“Nashville is a track that I’ve enjoyed since I made my first lap around the place,” stated Logano after the win. “It just fits my driving style. The Sprint Cup cars are not racing this weekend so I was able to just concentrate on getting the GameStop Toyota to Victory Lane today. It wasn’t easy. My teammate and I were racing each other hard. He seemed to be better than me on the long runs. Dave (Rogers, crew chief) made some great calls on pit road and we were the fastest car when it mattered!”

“GameStop has been with me for all of my Nationwide Series wins and their support means a lot,” continued Logano. “At Joe Gibbs Racing we demand the best from ourselves. GameStop does the same. That’s why they’re both world class leaders. We came into this season expecting to compete for wins – and I know we’ll continue to get them!”

"Joey Logano is showing that he can compete with the best of the Nationwide drivers and is in fact one of them," said Bob McKenzie, Senior Vice President of Merchandising for GameStop. "We are thrilled with Joey's win today and look forward to his continued success in the No. 20 GameStop Toyota."

BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan, April 1, 2009 - Troops from different service branches and different countries eagerly got into a line that wrapped around the inside of a tent here March 24 to meet four former World Wrestling Entertainment "divas."

For more than two hours, Terry Runnels, Nora "Molly Holly" Greenwald, Christy Hemme and Shelly Martinez signed autographs and posed for photos with servicemembers and civilians at the Morale, Welfare and Recreation gym.

"Events like having the divas here give the troops a break," Air Force Capt. Carey Caudell of Task Force Warrior said. "When you work seven days a week, you need something to take your mind off the day-to-day and just relax."

This was the first trip to visit deployed troops for three of the divas; only Runnels had made a trip to Kuwait to visit troops before. They were invited as part of MWR's effort to keep the morale of deployed troops high.

"The morale of troops is important, because we are away from family and friends," said Army Pvt. Nathan Brown, 101st Airborne Division Special Troops Battalion Headquarters and Headquarters Company. "Things like this helps remind us that we are still supported."

Hemme said she wanted to do the tour because she didn't want the "filtered version of the war" and wanted to see things for herself.

"People back home will never really understand how things are here without actually having ever been here," Martinez agreed.

In addition to Bagram, the divas also visited a couple of forward operating bases, but weather forced cancellation of planned visits to some smaller bases. "It felt as if my heart was ripped out when we realized we were going to miss a few stops," Hemme said.

The women made every moment count by visiting with the troops as often as possible. Aside from meals, sleeping and an hour of shopping, the majority of their time was spent with troops. But even during meals, they were happy to take a break for photos and autographs. Their goal was to show their appreciation to the troops and remind them that people back home support them.

"It makes us happy to see [troops] happy," said Runnels, who added she felt honored and humbled by her experience here.

The divas never said "You're welcome" when troops thanked them for being here, Kevin Dessart, the diva's tour manager, observed. Their response always was "No! Thank you," he said.

From the looks on the troops' faces, the divas succeeded in their mission to boost morale.

"The divas are the best tour we have had so far because of their genuine concern, curiosity and overall love for the troops," Air Force Master Sgt. Mark Gore, an MWR planner, said.

Arizona Guardsmen Take on NBA Stars

By Air Force Tech. Sgt. Angela Walz

Special to American Forces Press Service

WASHINGTON, Feb. 17, 2009 - Arizona Army and Air National Guardsmen were honored for their combat service Feb. 15 with an opportunity to score against National Basketball Association greats Shaquille O'Neal and David Robinson during the 2009 NBA All-Star Weekend here.

But this competition didn't take place on a basketball court. Instead, the troops vied for a chance to play the pros one-on-one via an Xbox Live video-gaming system.

Army Spc. Aaron Patten, an Operation Iraqi Freedom veteran, climbed his way to the top of the brackets in the EA sports NBA Live 09 game to play against O'Neal, a Phoenix Suns all-star, in the finals.

Army Staff Sgt. Steven Barrett took second place and played against David Robinson, former star of the San Antonio Spurs, who is among this year's finalists for induction into the Basketball Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility.

O'Neal and Robinson signed autographs, posed for photos and shook hands with the troops. Robinson also played a wounded warrior recovering from his injuries in Iraq live via satellite.

O'Neal played deployed Air Force Master Sgt. Anthony James and his family live via satellite, as well. O'Neal hoisted Trey James, the sergeant's son, up to the Web camera for a surprise appearance and conversation with his dad.

The father and son have been separated for two years due to James' deployment in support of operations in Iraq and Afghanistan

.

Greg and Addie Zinone, co-founders of "Pro vs. GI Joe," came up with the concept of matching professional athletes with returning and deployed troops.

Addie, who twice deployed with the Army Reserve, realized first-hand the importance of maintaining morale for deployed troops.

"So many of them are gamers on their down time anyway," she said. "We were able to team up with the USO to enable deployed troops to play against celebrities who are stateside."

"This was definitely a morale booster," Patten said. "These athletes have a lot of time to do so many other things, and taking time out to play with us is so cool."

Although Robinson competed against the troops, he also took time to honor the Guardsmen who are still deployed overseas: "Hang in there," he said. "We really appreciate what you're doing. It means a lot to us, and it doesn't go unnoticed. When you come back, we'll give you a hero's welcome."

Robinson is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and a Navy veteran. O'Neal's father is an Army veteran. O'Neal was named co-Most Valuable Player at the all-star game later in the evening.

Air Force Tech. Sgt. Angela Walz serves in the Arizona National Guard.
