Wall Street opens as top weekend box office film Los Angeles – Michael Douglas and Oliver Stone’s sequel to their popular 1987 film “Wall Street” was well received by audiences this weekend, opening in the number one position. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), although “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps” debuted as number one, earning $19 million at the box office, audiences did not come out in mass number for film releases as anticipated over the weekend. Paul Dergarabedian, box-office analyst for Hollywood.com, is quoted by the AP as stating of the film, which also stars Shia LaBeouf, “I think expectations were pretty high for this movie. That’s not only an iconic character of Gordon Gekko but it’s also an iconic movie… But then, it’s about the world of high finance. That’s not exactly a topic that sets the box office on fire, so I don’t think younger audiences were necessarily going to rush out for something like that.”

A Los Angeles judge has ruled that Lindsay Lohan be allowed to post a bail of 300,000 U.S. dollars Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg agreed Friday to the demand of Lohan's attorney, Shawn Chapman, that the actress be allowed to post bail, reversing Beverly Hills Superior Court Judge Elden S. Fox's earlier ruling. "This is a misdemeanor probation case, and the defendant is also entitled, as a matter of right, to bail pending the outcome of the probation revocation issue," Schnegg wrote in her order. Judge Schnegg set conditions for Lohan's bail. She must refrain from drinking alcohol and be fitted with an alcohol-detecting SCRAM device within 24 hours of her release from the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood. Lohan must also stay out of places where alcohol is the primary item being sold.
She also must not be in possession of any controlled substances, except with a valid prescription, according to Schnegg's order. The actress posted $300,000 bail and was released Friday night just before midnight, after spending less than 14 hours behind bars. On September 24, 2010 Lindsay Lohan appeared in a Beverly Hills courthouse on Friday morning where judge, Elden Fox revoked her probation. Lohan failed two drug and alcohol tests, violating her probation on DUI charges. Drug tests showed the presence of cocaine and amphetamines. A comfortable room at Lynwood Jail had been reserved Lindsay Lohan's third trip to jail, but not getting much use.
Lindsay Lohan was sentenced to jail for the third time. Her most previous sentence was issued after Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel found her to be in violation of the terms of her probation, which stemmed from a 2007 drug case. Lohan, who cried after the ruling, is quoted by the AP as stating to the judge, “I did do everything I was told to do and did the best I could to balance jobs and showing up. It wasn’t vacation, it wasn’t some sort of a joke.” Judge Revel is quoted as stating in response to Lohan’s apology that it is comparable to “somebody who cheats and thinks it isn’t cheating if she doesn’t get caught.” The actress’ sentence was 90 days in jail on August 11, to be followed by 90 days of rehab for probation violations. She served less than two weeks of her sentence and was released from rehabilitation after 22 days, when she then failed two drug tests.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s spokesperson Steve Whitmore said Lindsay Lohan will be held without bail until her probation violation hearing scheduled on October 22, 2010, unless another order is issued by a judge, which Judge Schnegg later did. Whitmore stated that Lohan is "very cooperative, very demure, very quiet. Once again she's doing everything that is asked of her. Last time she did very well and so far, so good this time." Lindsay Lohan finally admitted her cocaine abuse, alcohol dependence, and the use of other mind-altering substances to FoxNews in late February. According to the news report the Hollywood starlet claims she was near suicide because of her alcohol and cocaine abuse. Lohan is a perfect example of how addictions to alcohol and drugs cause serious consequences and leaves the suffering addict with cloudy judgment and faulty perceptions. Lohan has reportedly visited three drug and alcohol treatment centers by the young age of twenty-three. She was arrested in 2007 for DUI (driving under the influence) and possession of cocaine.
